Fortnite Gifting Not Working? Start With This Checklist

Check account security, friendship eligibility and the offer itself before retrying a Fortnite gift. Includes a practical pre-purchase checklist.

Quick answer

Epic requires 2FA, account level 2 and at least two days of friendship for gifting. The limit is five gifts in a rolling 24-hour period. Check those conditions before treating a failed gift as a download or installation problem.

Check account security first

To set up 2FA, open Password and security in your Epic account, choose a method and complete its verification. Confirm that the account reports it active. Use the official support link below rather than giving a password or verification code to a third-party gifting service.

Our troubleshooting order is deliberate: check an account requirement before changing your device. Reinstalling Fortnite does not provide evidence that your account is eligible to send a gift. If the security step itself fails, record that error separately from the gifting error.

Check the recipient and offer

Epic excludes already-owned items and some bundles containing items the recipient owns. The price shown to you for personal purchase can also differ from the gift price. Review the selected recipient and the final confirmation screen together.

Ask your friend for their exact Epic display name instead of choosing the first similar name. A screenshot of a character is not enough to identify the intended Outfit or bundle. Use the current Item Shop to establish which offer you mean, then agree on its name.

Check eligibility before choosing a gift

2FA + level 2

Enable two-factor authentication and check account level.

2 days

Check the required friendship period.

5 / 24 h

Review the rolling 24-hour gifting limit.

These account checks do not make every offer giftable. Check the recipient and the offer too.

If it still fails

Write down what happens: no gift option, an unavailable recipient or an error after confirmation. Add your platform, the offer name and the attempt time. That creates a useful support report without sharing sign-in details.

Check service status if the issue also affects other actions. If you are unsure whether an attempt completed, check the transaction and ask the recipient before trying another purchase. Epic states that gifts are non-refundable.

Your next steps

  1. Verify account and friendship requirements.
  2. Confirm the exact recipient and offer name.
  3. Read the gift price and confirmation carefully.
  4. For an unresolved error, record the message and use Epic support.
